Hertfordshire has been shortlisted in two categories for the 2016 Better Business for All Awards. Research commissioned by awards scheme One4all Spotlight Awards, has found Brits working for a smaller business are the happiest and most likely to enjoy their job. Metro Bank tops biggest survey of financial consumers in Britain
Metro Bank has been named Britain’s most trusted financial provider, in the biggest survey of financial consumers in Britain. The survey was carried out by financial advice website Moneywise for the Moneywise Customer Service Awards 2017. The challenger bank earned the top spot for the second year running, after 50,000 Moneywise readers provided feedback on major banks, insurance companies, and peer-to-peer lenders.

UK jobs, wages look set to increase in 2015
Great news for professionals and graduates as CBI survey shows UK firms plan to hire in 2015 and experts predict larger pay increases. It appears that 2015 will be a fruitful year for British employees and jobseekers alike. A recent survey from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) showed that around half of UK businesses are looking to expand their workforce. This was then followed by a prediction of increased pay awards for employees from Martin Weale, a member of the Bank of England’s (BOE) monetary policy committee.

UK SMEs are feeling more ambitious, research shows
SMEs and mid-market businesses in the UK are feeling more ambitious than they did a year ago, according to the Ambition Index Report, which was produced by Lloyds Bank National Business Awards. The report, which revealed how businesses are feeling about ambition, talent, Brexit and the challenges that they are facing, found that 45 per cent of businesses are feeling ambitious, despite concerns over Brexit, Article 50 and a weaker pound.

LSBF ACCA alumnus Kyle Tyrrell is the true personification of a high achiever. Alongside his position as a Finance Business Partner at AXA Insurance UK, he qualified as an ACCA-certified accountant in 2014 and is now setting up his own business – a catering company called ‘My Little Kitchen’ with a business partner. Kyle shares with us that his ACCA qualification and the things he learnt while working towards the qualification have helped him greatly in his decision-making as a director at his startup. We spoke to Kyle about his reasoning behind pursuing an ACCA qualification, the benefits of studying ACCA at LSBF and what his advice for new students would be.
