London, 24 January 2019 - On Wednesday 23 January, London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) hosted the “Careers in Accountancy” conference in conjunction with PQ Magazine.
The conference, held at The University of Law’s Moorgate campus, was an opportunity for attending students, professionals and all those interested in a career in accountancy to learn from the experts of the industry what steps to take next.
The day began with a welcoming speech from LSBF’s Professional Courses Director, Rob Sowerby, who also hosted the event. Mr Sowerby said: “Today is an opportunity to create a link between the latter stages of accountancy study and the beginnings of a career. Long has LSBF encouraged links between these separate stages of the industry, and with today’s experts kindly contributing; we hope that this conference will better inform your decisions of tomorrow.”
Mr Sowerby went on to chair a panel-discussion with current and former accountancy students, who told of their own route in the profession, advising the audience of the best methods towards an accounting qualification. The conference also featured a Q&A between the audience and speakers, as well as talks from Claire Bennison, Head of UK for ACCA, and Lea Watson, Apprentice Product Manager for AAT.
Consultants of British leading recruitment company Hays were also on hand to discuss the current state of the job market for the industry, providing valuable insights for a successful job search. At the end of the event, all participants were invited to join a networking session, making essential connections with others looking to begin their careers in accountancy.
The conference was a tremendous success, with the 170-strong audience taking part in the networking session, gaining the crucial information to begin the next step towards an accountancy qualification, and making important contacts with peers.
LSBF has been offering professional courses in accountancy and finance since the school’s inception in 2003, preparing hundreds of students to achieve the accountancy professional qualification and go on to succeed with a career in this demanding field.
