London, 2 March 2018 – London School of Business and Finance (LSBF), GISMA Business School, and Toronto School of Management (TSoM) have launched a joint initiative to celebrate International Women’s Week.
Starting Monday 5 March, the #WonderWomen campaign will be celebrating the achievements of women leaders around the world. The schools will share stories of success in a series of interviews and dedicated blogs, giving women in business, politics, and positions of leadership, the opportunity to share their experiences with a global audience.
The institutions – which between them have centres across the UK, Germany, Canada, and Asia – have launched this initiative to raise awareness about gender parity in business, supporting the official worldwide #PressForProgress theme chosen for this year’s International Women’s Day.
All three institutions are part of Global University Systems (GUS), an international network of higher education providers. GUS delivers a wide variety of programmes to over 50,000 students worldwide, championing passion for accessible quality education.
Commenting on the initiative, Cyndi McLeod, CEO of Global University Systems Canada and co-founder of Global Women in Education, said: “We want to give these successful women a platform to communicate, hopefully bringing down barriers and prejudices in the world of business. Higher education institutions should not shy away from addressing timely and relevant issues, helping students to grow on a personal level as well as the academic one.”
The list of interviewees features business leaders and entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries and sectors, representing companies from around the world. Some of the names taking part in the initiative include Hayley Parsons, founder and former Chief Executive of GoCompare, Jenny Burns, CEO of KBS Albion and Ashleigh Hinde, founder of Waldo.
Rathakrishnan Govind, Global CEO at LSBF, said: “We are honoured to be able to speak with such inspirational personalities to bring attention to the role of women in business. As women and entrepreneurs, they have unique knowledge and we hope their stories can inspire younger generations.”
The #WonderWomen campaign also shows each school’s commitment to enhancing students’ experiences and opportunities by bringing the world of business closer to them.
Ehsan Safdari, Managing Director at TSoM, said: “Students can gain precious insights from successful managers and business leaders. To hear about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them will give them great confidence for their future career.”
The interviews will be hosted on the institutions’ websites and social media channels throughout International Women’s Week.
