- News About LSBF
One of LSBF’s missions is to shape global careers and assure that all students have a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. As a key element of the school’s structure, LSBF’s Careers & Employability department endeavours to help students on their future career and improve their employability through a wide range of professional development programmes.
Since the beginning of the current term, LSBF hosted three workshops where students had the chance to share insights and network with industry leaders. The events aimed to help students develop highly marketable skills and provided tools they need in order to develop a global career.
Accountancy & Finance Recruitment
To kick off this term’s career events, over 100 students attended an accountancy and finance workshop led by three guest speakers from GAAPweb & Marks Sattin. Carmine Scalzo, Manager of the Part-Qualified team at Marks Sattin, alongside Jenny Poole, Marketing Manager at GAAP, and Dan Richards, Sales Director of GAAP, gave a detailed presentation on what employers look for in every step of the hiring process. They also contributed with first-hand examples of the most common mistakes students make when applying for certain jobs.
Merges & Acquisition and Corporate Finance
The second workshop of the series, hosted in late October, was presented by keynote speaker Stefano Attici, VP of Investment Banking at Excellion Capital. With an MBA and over 10 years of experience in Investment Banking and Management Consulting, Stefano Attici covered the essential skills for key roles in the financial, M&A, corporate finance and capital markets.
The workshop gave students the chance to learn a variety of career-enhancing skills and was in line with LSBF’s ethos of providing networking opportunities for its students and immersing them into the world of business.
Capital Markets Workshop
The third event of the series was led by Richard Smith, founder of Haskett Smith Consultancy, a firm specialised in the capital markets. Mr Smith had the chance to share the knowledge acquired across over 30 years in the financial markets. For 23 years, he was the Head of Northern Europe Corporate Finance at Chase Manhattan, where he was responsible for origination of capital markets deals both in the US and Europe.
In a two-hour session at LSBF New Court Campus, students had the chance to share his expertise and get insights in Merges & Acquisition, financial market and loan syndication.
Nadim Choudhury, Head of LSBF Careers & Employability Services, said: “At LSBF we aim to offer as many opportunities as possible to allow students to achieve more in their careers. Since day one, our students have full access to the entire structure of our Careers Services. The events we promote aim to enable students to meet business leaders and not only learn from them, but share their personal experience as future business experts.”
