The North of England’s fastest growing technology start-ups have been revealed by technology investment bank, GP Bullhound.
Manchester was found to have the highest number of companies on the list at 28 per cent, followed by 16 per cent in Yorkshire, 14 per cent in Newcastle, and the rest of the businesses located in areas such as Blackpool, Sunderland and Glasgow.
Grown
The 50 companies on the list achieved success in 2015, growing their combined revenues by 90 per cent to £1.12 billion, and were selected because of their “enormous potential for global expansion.”
Amongst those that have made the list are RealityMine, an innovative Manchester-based tech company that helps clients to understand the digital behaviour of their customers, and Tyres on the Drive, a tyre-fitting company based in Cheshire.
Also on the list are Manchester-based app developer Apadmi and Skyscanner, a search engine based in Edinburgh.
Potential
GP Bullhound Managing Partner Hugh Campbell commented on the companies selected, saying: “These companies have shown the dynamic potential of Northern tech to consistently produce high-growth digital businesses. The digital economy is thriving and this is a cause for celebration.”
The 50 companies will be judged at GP Bullhound’s Northern Tech Awards, which is scheduled to take place on 23rd March. The event, which is held by the company every year, brings together “the stars of the tech community” and celebrates the “fastest growing and most promising companies.”
