A government-backed cyber security accelerator is searching for entrepreneurs looking to combat cybercrime.
The HutZero accelerator, which is run by Cyber London (CyLon) and the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), will also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn new skills that will enable them to start up their own cyber security company.
Development
Twenty businesses will be selected to participate in HutZero’s first event, which will consist of a bootcamp lasting five days. The bootcamp will take place from 12th to 16th September 2016 at CyLon’s business premises, with a second event scheduled for later in the year.
Businesses will have the chance to receive one-to-one mentoring, learn about technical development and business fundamentals and connect with a network of cyber security and innovation experts. There will also be co-working spaces.
The programme will give entrepreneurs the chance to work on and develop their own cyber security ideas.
Applications are open until 18th July and interviews will take place on the 27th and 28th July. Applicants have the choice of attending the interview in person or online.
Unique
Commenting on the programme, Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey said: “The government is committed to investing in the UK’s cyber security industry so I’m pleased we’re supporting HutZero, a unique programme for talented individuals wanting to start a cyber security company in the UK.”
He added that the programme will “help make sure we support the next generation of innovative UK cyber security companies.”
