Entrepreneurs gathered in London on Wednesday to celebrate Virgin Media’s business competition. It was announced earlier this year that the company would once again be launching its Virgin Media Business VOOM event.
The competition was created to provide entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses in Britain and Ireland with the chance to pitch their ideas to Sir Richard Branson.
Support
Businesses that participate have the chance to win their share of £1 million in prizes. The competition is open to entrepreneurs who are thinking of starting up a business, early-stage businesses and businesses that are looking to grow.
Companies will have the opportunity to take part in face-to-face workshops over a period of 14 weeks.
Those who are successful will receive £50,000 in cash in addition to funding, social media and marketing support, and a ticket to the final of the competition.
Virgin Media Business will be partnering up with the UK’s largest crowdfunding platform, Crowdfunder UK, for the competition. The funding platform will be giving businesses the opportunity to run a crowdfunding campaign and raise awareness of their business in addition to entering the competition.
Influential
Discussing Virgin Media Business VOOM 2016, Branson described it as the “biggest, most valuable and influential competition in the country”, stating that it enables businesses to “fast-track” their way to success.
He added that the competition is about “seeking out, supporting and celebrating” the most exciting businesses in the UK and Ireland and that Virgin Media is hoping to find a way to get everyone involved.
