Competition for young entrepreneurs is relaunched

A competition to give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors has been relaunched.

NACUE is now searching for students and graduates across the UK to take part in its Varsity Pitch 2016 competition, which is in its sixth year.

Rigorous

Described by NACUE as “the UK’s biggest business competition for students and graduates”, the event gives entrepreneurs the chance to submit a 60-second video pitch in their chosen category, with the winner being awarded £10,000 to develop their idea.

Eight finalists will be chosen to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts, and will receive “rigorous enterprise training” at the Varsity Pitch Bootcamp to prepare for the final.

NACUE has teamed up with leading companies such as Microsoft, Lloyds and Tata to give entrants the opportunity to share and develop their business ideas.

Tata will be running the Tata Social Impact category for students and graduates who are running social enterprises and ethically conscious businesses, whilst Microsoft will be looking for innovative start-ups.

Lloyds will be giving businesses the chance to be fast-tracked into the competition, which will enable them to be entered straight into the final. Entrants will not need to apply for this category as it will be based on which team achieves the highest number of votes.

Eligible

Applications for Varsity Pitch are now open, and any student who runs their own business or anyone who graduated after December 2011 is eligible to enter.

The final will take place on Thursday 17th November during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
