Top degree subjects for getting a job revealed

The top 12 degree subjects for getting a job have been revealed in new research from the Telegraph.

The data, which was obtained using the latest information from the Telegraph’s university course finder and originally sourced from The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) for 2014-2015, ranks the top degrees for jobs, with subjects such as business and technology featuring on the list.

The research ranked the degree subjects based on the percentage of graduates that went on to find work or further study within six months of graduating.

Medicine and dentistry was found to be the top degree subject for graduate jobs, with 96.6 per cent of students finding a job or further study within six months of completing their degree during the 2014-2015 period.

This was followed by veterinary science and medicine-related subjects such as biomedical science at 95.9 per cent and 95.3 per cent respectively.

Education came in fourth place on the list, with 94.4 per cent of students quickly finding work or going on to further study after completing education-related subjects, followed by architecture, planning and building, law, and biological sciences, which came in fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively.

Improvement

Business and administration studies earned eighth place on the list, with 88.3 per cent of graduates with a business degree managing to find work or further study within six months of completing university. This was found to be an improvement on 2013’s figure, which stood at 85 per cent.

Languages came in ninth place on the list, followed by creative arts and design, engineering and technology, and historical and philosophical studies.
