Hundreds of jobs to be created at Manchester Airport

Over 450 job roles are to be created at Manchester Airport following its plans to expand.

The public will have the chance to learn more about the roles being offered at a jobs fair, which is scheduled to take place on Monday 6th June.

Training

Manchester Airport will be offering roles in areas such as customer services and security, and successful applicants will have the opportunity to take part in a training programme.

Over 20,000 people are currently employed at the airport’s site, with 3,000 job vacancies being filled this year after it held its first jobs fair back in January.

The first fair, which was held at the airport’s visitor centre, attracted thousands of visitors. The latest jobs fair will be held at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

The airport, which is one of the largest centres of employment in the North West, will be opening up a number of new routes this year as part of its expansion plans.

Impact

Manchester Airport CEO Ken O’Toole commented on the news, stating: “The number of jobs being created as a result of Manchester Airport’s growth demonstrates the positive impact it has on the region.

“Manchester Airport not only plays a vital role in providing international connectivity for the region, it is also an economic provider and job creator.”

He added that the airport makes an economic impact of £1.7 billion in the North West alone, and that as it grows and increases its number of passengers and destinations, employment and economic value will continue to grow.
