Research from CV-Library has shown that London is one of the top cities in the UK for finding talented staff.
The UK job board compared data on its website from July 2018 with the same period last year and found that average growth in candidate interest in London increased by 13.9%.
Highest
The data showed that more job seekers are searching for work month-on-month, giving businesses a better chance of locating talented workers. CV registrations were up by 7.5% last month, while advertised jobs increased by 13.7%.
CV-Library’s July Job Market Report also showed that jobs in the finance industry increased by 12.5% year-on-year, while the number of finance candidates who registered their CV with CV-Library reached the highest in three months.
In addition to seeing an increase in candidate interest, London was also one of the top cities for advertised jobs, with a rise of 16.2%. The city outperformed other key UK cities for candidate interest, including Leeds and Liverpool, which saw a rise of 5.9% and 3.6% respectively.
CV-Library’s figures were also positive in terms of wage growth, with key UK cities such as Liverpool, Southampton and Birmingham being among the locations to see the biggest rise in average pay at 6.7%, 5.8% and 5.2% respectively. Average pay across the UK increased by 1.7%.
Widespread
Commenting on the research, CV-Library’s Founder and Managing Director Lee Biggins said that while there tends to be a slowdown in recruitment during the summer months, the figures show that people are interested in searching for work at the moment and that this is widespread across the UK.
He added that if businesses are looking to increase their workforce, then now could be a great time for them to start advertising jobs.
