According to a recent article by The Guardian earlier this month, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) of Nigeria entered into an agreement to help improve the skillsets of the individuals it serves.
Going forward, the two organisations will share their curriculums to give HR professionals and accountants the opportunities to upskill and learn knowledge that crosses both subject areas. It also extends more possibilities to individuals in Nigeria to develop accountancy skills.
The agreement comes at a welcomed time in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, individuals need to have the most contemporary skills and knowledge to take on new challenges. With redundancies and furlough schemes being a reality in 2020, taking steps to improve your employability is vital.
What will be the benefits of this agreement?
- Both HR professionals and accountants have areas where their roles might intersect such as budgeting. This agreement makes way for greater collaboration between departments.
- Individuals will have the chance to upskill whether that be improving their existing skills or learning completely new ones.
- This will provide members of ACCA and CIPM Nigeria with more career opportunities across a variety of sectors.
- Individuals can develop their leadership capabilities in business hopefully creating a collective of strong leaders for the future.
